A police constable tragically lost his life Wednesday evening following a collision between his private motor car and a Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus in the 2 East community of Greater Portmore, St. Catherine.
The deceased has been identified as Constable David Hamilton, who was assigned to the St. Andrew Central Division.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) Corporate Communications Unit confirmed the fatal crash, which took place shortly after 8 p.m.
According to preliminary reports, constable Hamilton was driving his black Nissan Sylphy along the roadway when he lost control and collided head-on into the path of a JUTC bus travelling in the opposite direction.
Emergency personnel were quickly on the scene, and efforts are underway to gather more information regarding the factors contributing to the crash. The JCF stated that additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
