Police Constable Arrested in Westmoreland: A police constable was apprehended by his colleagues on Saturday after he was allegedly caught in possession of a portion of ganja, a cellphone SIM card, and other contraband at the Whithorne police lock-up in Whithorne.
Reports indicate that around 2:30 PM, the lawman was observed by his colleagues holding a parcel while acting in a suspicious manner.
A report was made to his superior officer, who called the constable to the guardroom area.
The parcel, wrapped in a black plastic bag, was retrieved and found to contain a quantity of ganja, cigarettes, cigarette lighters, rolling papers, a plastic water bottle containing rum, and the SIM card.
The officer was taken into custody, and an investigation was launched into the matter.
