PNP Rejects Claims of Bribery Made by Former Kingston Central Caretaker

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The People’s National Party (PNP) has dismissed allegations made by its former caretaker for Kingston Central, Lawrence Rowe, who claimed in a social media post that he was offered $15 million to withdraw from his position.

In a media release on Monday, the PNP expressed concern over what it described as “spurious allegations” being circulated by Rowe, sections of the media, and the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).

The allegations have sparked criticism from the JLP, which issued a statement accusing the PNP of showing a willingness to breach principles of good governance, engage in state capture, and use corrupt means to secure political power.

The PNP, however, has strongly rejected these accusations, labeling them inconsistent with the party’s values.

The party reiterated its commitment to transparency and good governance, stating that the claims contradict its long-standing policies and practices. It added that the matter would be addressed further at a later date.

The PNP also urged the public and the media to focus on its ongoing efforts to serve the residents of Kingston Central with integrity and dedication.
