St Mary, Jamaica — Police in St Mary made a significant ammunition seizure on Thursday after discovering over 1,000 rounds inside an abandoned building in the Devon Pen community of Castleton.
According to police reports, the operation began around 7:50 a.m. and lasted until 12:00 p.m., during which lawmen conducted a detailed search of a four-bedroom concrete structure believed to be unoccupied.
During the search, officers reportedly uncovered two black shopping bags and one brown bag inside one of the rooms. The bags were found to contain a large cache of ammunition—over 1,000 rounds, although the specific calibres have not yet been disclosed.
No arrests were made in connection with the find, and the premises remain under investigation.
Authorities say the seizure is part of continued efforts to crack down on illegal weapons and ammunition in the parish, which has seen several targeted operations in recent weeks.
The St Mary police are urging anyone with information regarding the discovery to contact them as investigations continue.
