Old Habour Taxi Driver Convicted of Rape and Abduction of teen

Old Harbour, St. Catherine (McN) – A 29-year-old taxi driver was found guilty of the rape and abduction of his teenage passenger.

An investigation by the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) led to a taxi driver being charged with the crimes of rape and abduction – after he veered off his regular route with a 17-year-old girl.

It is alleged that an Old Harbour taxi-driver drove to a non-populated area with the passenger [a teenage student] alone, he then sexually assaulted the victim before dropping her at her home

When the girl got home she told of the incident to her mother, who immediately reported it to the Old Harbour Police.

The 29 year-old man who is accused and charged with of sexual assault of the teenager while in the secluded area, has confessed to having consensual sexual intercourse with the teen.

A jury in the St. Catherine Circuit Court on Thursday, returned a guilty verdict for the crime of abduction and rape .

His sentencing for the crimes is set for February 27.
