Nigy Boy Secures Three Nominations at 42nd IRAWMA

Award-winning artist Nigy Boy, affectionately known as the “Continent Boss,” has earned three nominations at the upcoming 42nd Annual International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA). The categories in which he is nominated include Best New Entertainer, Best Song, and Best Singjay Entertainer.

The prestigious ceremony will take place on March 30 at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, located at 2855 Coral Springs Drive in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

“It’s a great honour to have been recognised for three nominations at this year’s IRAWMA awards,” Nigy Boy expressed. “I am extremely grateful and humbled to know that my work and accomplishments in music, despite the short time I’ve been a part of it, have gained attention from such a prestigious organisation. I endeavour to keep doing the best I can.”

The New York-based artist, who just celebrated his 24th birthday, is riding high on a wave of success, bolstered by his latest soca release, Hold On, featuring Trinidadian singer-songwriter Nailah Blackman.

Nigy Boy’s journey to global recognition is as compelling as his music. Despite being visually impaired, he has captivated audiences with hits such as Continent, Karma, Lover Not A Fighter, You & I, Nomad, and Goodness of God. His music has garnered millions of views, solidifying his place as one of dancehall’s brightest stars.

Just over a year ago, Nigy Boy’s rise to prominence caught the attention of Caribbean-American Assembly Member Alicia Hyndman, who invited him as a special guest for Queens Day in Albany during a New York State Assembly session. Beyond his musical achievements, Nigy Boy holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from the State University of New York in Long Island.

The artist’s talent and dedication have earned him a packed performance schedule for 2024, with bookings almost every weekend across the USA, Canada, UK, and the Caribbean. He is also set to perform at some of the year’s most anticipated events, including a top billing at Jamaica’s premier summer festival, Reggae Sumfest.

Nigy Boy will make his next appearance in Jamaica in mid-February for the Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run, an event that continues to support charitable causes.

Fans and industry insiders eagerly anticipate the ceremony, where Nigy Boy is expected to shine as one of the breakout stars of the year.
