Jamaica News, April 4, 2018 – New Agriculture Minister Audley Shaw Says his Appointment is no Demotion
St James, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – The newly appointed Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Audley Shaw on Monday told members of the public that his recent appointment from Minister of Finance to Agriculture Minister is no demotion.
According to Minister Shaw, having piloted the government’s ship to achieve macro-economic stability through fiscal consolidation and with all the macroeconomic variables pointing in the right direction, he now embraces the opportunity to lead the charge for economic growth, which is imperative to this government.
The Agriculture Minister who was speaking at the annual Montpelier Agricultural Show which was held at the Montpelier Show Ground in St James on Monday, April 2, further stated that, “macroeconomics stability is necessary, but not sufficient. It is growth that is going to move people into prosperity, bolster rural development, increase employment and reverse the rural – urban drift and poverty.”
Minister Shaw was among a group of other government officials who spoke at the Montpelier Agricultural Show which was well attended and considered to be a total success.
