Negril Police District Constable Shot in Taxi Ambush

Westmoreland, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) Negril Police District Constable Shot: a District Constable who hails from Bethel Town in Westmoreland was shot and injured by gunmen who ambushed a taxi motorcar in which the Negril Police Department District Constable was travelling on Thursday morning.

Unconfirmed news is also that another male passenger who was travelling in the said motor vehicle at the time of the shooting was also shot and injured by the gunmen. The passenger has reportedly been admitted to Hospital in serious but stable condition.

Reports are that shortly after 9:30 a.m., on Thursday morning a District Constable was among four other passengers travelling in a taxi motor car in the direction of the Bethel Town route to Montego Bay.

On reaching a section of the road, which borders Westmoreland and Chester Castle in Hanover, the vehicle was ambushed by two armed men who opened fire at the car.

Reportedly, the District Constable Challenged the gunmen in a gunfire battle. It is further reported that during the shooting he and the other passenger were shot.

The scene was visited by detectives attached to the Ramble and Bethel Town Police Departments.

Police investigators are now combing sections of the area for the gunmen.
