KINGSTON, Jamaica – A 39-year-old musician was fatally shot on Friday night while washing his car on Penwood Drive in the Kingston 11 area. The deceased has been identified as Kerage Bailey, a resident of Balmagie Road in the same community.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 8:05 p.m. Bailey was cleaning his white Nissan Sunny when he was approached by an unknown assailant armed with a handgun. Without warning, the gunman opened fire, striking Bailey multiple times in the upper body.
In a desperate attempt to flee, Bailey ran toward Penny Stone Avenue, but collapsed shortly after. The gunman reportedly fled the scene on foot, disappearing into the neighborhood.
Residents quickly alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and rushed Bailey to the Kingston Public Hospital. Despite efforts by medical personnel, Bailey succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead later that evening.
The motive for the attack remains unclear, and police have launched an investigation into the killing. No arrests have been made so far, and authorities are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
