A man known as “Richie”, who police say was wanted for a shopkeeper’s murder and was on bail in connection with another killing, was fatally shot during a police operation in Christiana, Manchester, on Monday afternoon.
According to preliminary police reports, officers acting on intelligence went to a bar on Wildman Street about 3:15 p.m. in search of the suspect.
Police say an armed man confronted the officers and was fatally shot. A firearm was reportedly seized.
Investigators said Richie was on bail in connection with the September 4, 2024 murder of 29-year-old Romario White at a bar in Christiana.
He was also wanted for the July 24, 2026 killing of a shopkeeper in Alston, northwest Clarendon. Police suspect that killing was a contract hit and had identified Richie as the alleged shooter.
