Murder for Hire: Woman Allegedly Paid $100K to Kill Policeman and His Family

St. James, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) — A deadly scheme that sounds like a movie script has become grim reality in St. James, after a woman allegedly paid $100,000 to have a police officer and his family murdered — all over a dispute involving a motor vehicle sale.

The paid hit left the officer’s spouse dead, and both he and his five-year-old son injured, after the family came under heavy gunfire in Reading on Saturday, August 9.

Investigators say this was no random shooting — it was planned, paid for, and carried out with chilling precision.

Deal Gone Deadly

Reports are that the officer and his spouse had sold a motor vehicle to the woman for approximately $2 million, under a payment agreement.

But after receiving part of the vehicle, the buyer reportedly stopped paying and began avoiding communication. When the couple followed up for the rest of the money, she allegedly became hostile.

That’s when, according to police sources, she contracted a hitman, offering him a mere $100,000 to kill the entire family.

The Setup

On the night of the attack, the officer — assigned to the Area One Lottery Scam Task Force — travelled with his spouse and young son to meet the woman at a location in Reading, St. James.

Moments after they arrived, bullets flew.

His spouse was shot multiple times and died at the scene. He and his five-year-old child were also injured in the ambush.

The Police Strike Back

What followed was a swift and forceful response. The police launched targeted operations in search of those involved.

By August 11, two men connected to the incident were killed in separate shootouts:

  • Andre “Zul” Reid of Bull Bay, St. Andrew — reputed leader of the Katan Defense Force (KDF) gang in Mount Salem.
  • Lindel George “Frass” Gray of Mafoota, St. James.

Then, on Wednesday, August 13, police intercepted two more suspects in Salt Spring. A gun battle broke out. One man escaped, but 24-year-old Orlando “Ninja” Thomas of Bethel Town, Westmoreland, was found with gunshot wounds and later died. A firearm and ammunition were recovered.

Thomas is believed to be the triggerman in the August 9 attack.

One More Suspect on the Run

Now, only one man remains at large — the suspected getaway driver who helped the attackers flee the scene.

Meanwhile, the woman who allegedly orchestrated the hit is now in custody, awaiting formal charges.

Police High Command Speaks Out

The Police High Command released a statement expressing disgust and deep concern over the value placed on human life.

“To think a family could be targeted over money — and a life priced at just $100,000 — is disturbing beyond words,” the statement read. “It is a tragic reflection of the mindset of some individuals in our society.”

As the investigation continues, the public is left reeling from the brutality of the attack and the cold, calculated motive behind it.
