Doujon Griffiths, 26, of Glendevon in Montego Bay, St James, was convicted on Thursday, October 1, on all six counts in an indictment. The victims were 20-year-old Massania Malcolm and her daughter, Jordania Reid. Malcolm’s boyfriend, Jordane Reid, survived the shooting and testified during the trial.
According to prosecutors, Griffiths had been staying with the couple before he was asked to leave their home. He subsequently shot Reid multiple times and drove away in a vehicle with Malcolm and the child.
Malcolm was found shot dead inside the car two days later in a parking lot on Lake Ellenor Drive. Her daughter was also found dead. Jurors heard testimony that temperatures inside the vehicle rose above 120 degrees Fahrenheit and that the child likely died from heat exhaustion. (wdbo.com)
The jury deliberated for approximately 20 minutes before returning its verdict.
Griffiths is scheduled to be sentenced on November 16 at 10:30 a.m. Malcolm’s mother, Latoya Reid, said she plans to attend and deliver a victim impact statement.
