Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Montego Bay Business Operators Awaiting Results: Several business operators within the city of Montego Bay say based on the recent waves of murders which have been taking place in downtown Montego Bay, they welcome the State of Emergency with open arms, however, they are anxiously awaiting the results from this move.
One particular businessman mentioned that despite the fact that the Early closure of business affects him greatly, he is willing to comply. He further mentioned that he hopes at the end of the State of Emergency the people in general and the business community will see the intended results.
At noon on Thursday, the Prime Minister of Jamaica imposed a State of Emergency in the parish of St James. This move came about immediately after gunmen shot and killed one man, and shot and injured three others in broad daylight at the Donald Sangster’s Airport and in close proximity of the Summit Police Station along Sunset Boulevard.
The joint military immediately reaped success by seizing a Ak-47 assault rifle and six live rounds. They also arrested five persons who were being sought in connection with the said shootings and murder.
The business operators are now saying its a good move based on the fact that in the previous year a total of over 60 murders took place in Montego Bay.
Since the start of 2018, the first murder recorded in St James also took place in Montego Bay and of the seven persons killed in the parish so far since the start of the year four of those victims were murdered in Montego Bay.
