The Montego Bay Metro Company Limited (Mo-Bay Metro) has introduced a dedicated bus service aimed at students attending several high schools in western Jamaica. The service, which began with the resumption of schools on September 9, caters to students from Anchovy High, Cambridge High, Irwin High, Knockalva High, Hopewell High, Muschett High, Ruseas High, Spot Valley High, and William Knibb High.
The new service includes morning pickups and return trips at the end of the school day, providing a reliable transportation option for thousands of students. Since the launch, over 6,000 students have been utilizing the service, a significant increase compared to the previous year, when more than 3,400 students used the Metro.
The rise in ridership highlights the importance of Mo-Bay Metro in addressing the growing transportation needs within the Western Municipal Region. The company is currently working to extend the service to accommodate the demands of additional schools in the region.
