CHATTEAU, Clarendon — The body of a Clarendon man who was reported missing for nearly a week was discovered on Wednesday evening, hanging from a tree in a suspected case of suicide.
The deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Louie George Wiltshire, otherwise called ‘Steel’, of Chatteau district in the parish.
According to police reports, Wiltshire’s body was found around 5:00 p.m. by residents in a bushy area of the community. He was hanging by an electrical cord from a tree. Law enforcement was immediately summoned to the scene.
Wiltshire had reportedly gone missing several days earlier, prompting concern among relatives and residents.
Police say preliminary investigations point to suicide, but a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the quiet rural community, where Wiltshire was well known. The Clarendon police continue to investigate.
