PORTMORE, St Catherine — One man is dead and three others, including a recording artiste, are nursing gunshot wounds following a brazen attack in the gated community of Palms of Portmore on Wednesday night.
The fatal shooting, which occurred around 10:20 p.m., has left the community in shock. The deceased, believed to be in his 20s, has not yet been identified by authorities.
According to police reports, the four men — all from Kingston communities — were travelling in a car when they were ambushed by gunmen who opened fire on the vehicle.
When the gunfire ceased, all four men had sustained gunshot wounds. They were rushed to hospital, where one was pronounced dead. The other three remain in serious condition.
Investigators from the Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have since processed the scene, where more than a dozen spent shells from a high-powered rifle were recovered.
Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue to probe the incident.
This latest attack adds to growing concerns about gun violence even in traditionally quiet residential areas.
