A man listed among Manchester’s most wanted has been fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with police in Trelawny on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Oral Cole, who was reportedly involved in a shootout with lawmen in the Ulster Spring area shortly after 2:00 p.m.
During the incident, a police officer was struck by a bullet; however, his protective vest prevented serious injury. The officer was taken to hospital for treatment.
Cole was among eight prisoners who escaped from the Black River Police Station lockup in St. Elizabeth in June 2023. He had since been sought by authorities in connection with multiple cases, including murder and shootings in Manchester.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
