A 25-year-old man was shot and killed early Saturday morning in Quarry, Salt Spring, St. James.
Police have identified the deceased as Jaheim Parkinson, otherwise called “Coby,” of Quarry.
According to investigators, Parkinson was walking along the Quarry main road about 12:40 a.m. when a white Nissan AD wagon carrying several men approached him.
The occupants reportedly opened fire, hitting Parkinson multiple times in the upper body, before speeding away towards Montego Bay.
Residents took Parkinson to Cornwall Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, some social media users have disputed the police account, alleging that Parkinson was killed by a community member in a jealous rage and that the circumstances are being covered up. These claims remain unverified.
