An alleged attempt to bribe police officers with a $5,000 note reportedly hidden beneath a Chinese passport has resulted in two men facing multiple charges in St James.
The incident occurred on October 8, around 1:19 p.m., when police discovered a grey Toyota Voxy stopped on a pedestrian crossing. During checks, officers reportedly found the cash under a passport handed over by Ying Lu, who is charged with bribery and aiding and abetting driving without insurance and a licence.
The driver, Dengzheng Lu, is charged with driving without insurance, failing to stop at a pedestrian crossing, and driving without a licence.
Both men had their bail extended, and the matter returns to court on January 14, 2026.
