Jamaica News, Westmoreland: The Negril Police in the parish of Westmoreland have confirmed that a man was shot and killed by two contractors employed to the Jamaica Public Service Company in the parish on Monday, April 30.
The lawmen stated that they are unable to release the name of the deceased at this time.
Reports are that shortly after 1:00 p.m., the JPS Contractors were working at a section of Negril community known as Orange Hill.
It is alleged that they were in the process of disconnecting an electric connection when they got involved in an argument with the deceased.
It is further reported that both the deceased and one of the men got caught up in a physical confrontation when one of the JPS Contractors allegedly pulled his licensed firearm and shot him.
The wounded man was transported to the Savanna-la-mar hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The death of the resident has since sparked a protest in the area by angry residents.
