Jamaica News, Clarendon: The body of a Clarendon fisherman who drowned while at sea on Sunday, April 29, was fished from the water on Monday afternoon, April 30.

The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Leverne Pommels of Mitchell Town also in Clarendon.

Reports from the Lionel Town Police are that on Sunday afternoon, about 1:00 p.m., Pommels and another man went to sea in a small engine boat.

While at sea, the boat developed mechanical problems and the other fisherman bent over to address the engine problem. He then lost his balance and fell into the water. Pommels dived into the water to save his friend but he met into difficulties and submerged. The other man managed to hang onto a section of the boat and climbed to safety.

Upon his return to land, the police and other residents were notified and a search was immediately carried out.

On Monday afternoon, Pommel’s body was fished from the sea with the help of Marine police and other divers.
