A man, said to be mentally ill, died from injuries he sustained after being run over by a truck along a section of the Haddo main road in Westmoreland on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Derrick Simpson, of a Westmoreland address.
Reports indicate that shortly after 2:00 a.m., Simpson was walking along a section of the Haddo main road in the direction of Ramble when he stepped off the sidewalk and was run over by a truck.
Simpson sustained head and body injuries and died on the spot.
The police were summoned, and upon arrival, the scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue for a post-mortem examination.
