St Catherine, Jamaica — Lawmen assigned to the St Catherine North Division have arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with an alleged breach of the Firearms Act following an early-morning incident in Spanish Town on Monday.
Reports are that about 4:45 a.m., police responded to loud explosions heard at a bar along Walks Road, Spanish Town. Upon their arrival, they observed a man acting suspiciously with a noticeable bulge in his waistband.
The police accosted and searched the individual, during which they allegedly found a nine-millimetre pistol fitted with a magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition.
Further checks revealed that the man had no licence or permit for the weapon.
He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition. His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
The St Catherine North Police continue their probe into the matter.
