Kingston, Jamaica – The quiet of the early morning was shattered by gunfire along Madden Street in Kingston East, as yet another police-involved fatal shooting has left one man dead and investigators from the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) combing the scene.
Reports reaching Mckoy’s News are that the incident unfolded about 6:30 a.m. this morning, Monday, October 13, 2025. The deceased has been identified only by his alias “Southie.”
According to preliminary reports, lawmen were on an operation in the area when they were allegedly met with gunfire from armed men. The police reportedly returned the fire, and when the shooting subsided, “Southie” was found suffering from gunshot wounds. A firearm was reportedly seized during the operation.
The scene has since been cordoned off as INDECOM personnel continue their investigation into the matter.
As of October 9, INDECOM reports that 235 fatal police shootings have been recorded across Jamaica for 2025, with three of those occurring earlier this month.
Residents in the community say the area has been tense since the incident, and law enforcement presence remains heavy.
