The Westmoreland police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was shot and killed by alleged police impersonators in the Bethel Town community on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Antony Evans, also known as ‘AJ,’ a laborer from Argyle Mountain in Bethel Town.
Reports from the Bethel Town Police indicate that around 1:30 a.m., Evans and his teenage girlfriend were inside his one-room board dwelling when three armed men posing as police officers entered the yard.
The men reportedly identified themselves as police officers, then immediately forced the front door open and opened fire, hitting Evans multiple times.
The men walked away from the scene, and the police were subsequently summoned. Upon arrival, officers found Evans suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
