A violent incident in Alexandria, St. Ann, Friday night has left one man dead and a woman hospitalized, police confirmed.
The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Kemar “Mars” Brown of Bristol District, Alexandria. Authorities reported that the shooting occurred shortly before 10 p.m.
According to initial police statements, Brown and a woman were leaving a local shop around 9:55 p.m. when an armed assailant confronted them, demanding money. When the demand was not met, the suspect opened fire, striking both Brown and the woman before fleeing the scene.
Emergency responders transported the victims to a nearby hospital, where Brown was pronounced dead, and the woman received treatment for her injuries.
Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Some unverified reports have circulated suggesting more than one fatality, but authorities have confirmed only Brown’s death.
