A 34-year-old man was fatally shot during a police operation in Discovery Bay, St Ann, early Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Sodane Downer of Old Folly, Discovery Bay. Reports indicate that the incident occurred about 5:00 a.m. on February 12, 2026.
According to information released, a .38 pistol along with six rounds of ammunition was reportedly recovered following the shooting.
Law enforcement officials have not disclosed details regarding the circumstances that led to the fatal encounter. The matter has been reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) for investigation, and police say no further information will be provided at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing.
