The Independent Commission of Investigation has launched a probe into the fatal shooting of a man in the Grange Hill area of Westmoreland on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Pete Bowen, also known as ‘Tell Lie’, from Sterling district in Grange Hill, Westmoreland.
According to police reports, around 5:30 am, law enforcement officers conducted a targeted raid at a premises in Sterling, Grange Hill, when they came under gunfire from armed individuals.
In response, the police took evasive action and returned fire, resulting in the shooting death of Bowen.
A 9mm pistol equipped with a magazine containing several rounds of ammunition was reportedly seized from him.
