AENON TOWN, Clarendon — A 41-year-old man was fatally shot by police during an alleged gunfire exchange at a party in the Longbough district of Aenon Town early Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Andre Ingram, otherwise called ‘Jazz’, a resident of the Aenon Town community.
According to a police report, around 1:40 a.m., officers were alerted to a permitted entertainment event in Longbough district after receiving reports that a man was discharging a prohibited firearm at the party. Upon arrival, lawmen say Ingram opened fire at the police, prompting them to take evasive action and return gunfire.
Ingram was shot during the reported exchange and later transported to the Percy Junor Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say a Taurus 9mm pistol, bearing a serial number and loaded with seven live rounds, was recovered from the scene.
The incident has been reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) as the probe into the fatal shooting continues.
