The Bethel Town Police in Westmoreland have arrested and charged a man who was caught attempting to smuggle a portion of ganja and cigarettes into the Bethel Town cell block at the Bethel Town Police station.
The accused has been identified as 31-year-old Orlando Bruce, also known as ‘Lando’, from the Shrewsbury district in the parish.
Reports indicate that around 3:00 am on Sunday, police at the station heard strange sounds coming from the rear of the cell blocks. Upon investigation, they observed Bruce stuffing a large plastic bag into a vent pipe at the rear of the cell blocks.
He was apprehended, and the bag was searched, revealing a quantity of ganja, cigarettes, and cigarette lighters.
He was subsequently charged.
