The Trelawny police have arrested an 18-year-old man who allegedly broke into the Falmouth All Age School.
The suspect has been identified as Eric Simpson, also known as ‘Macca,’ of Water Lane in Falmouth, Trelawny. Simpson has also been charged with the May 20th murder of 56-year-old Eric Shirley, known as ‘Juicy.’
Reports indicate that around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 6th, a watchman on duty at the school compound heard strange noises coming from a section of the premises. Upon investigating, he found Simpson climbing out of a classroom window.
The watchman attempted to apprehend Simpson, but the suspect brandished a knife and tried to escape on foot. The watchman raised an alarm, and with the help of residents, Simpson was apprehended and handed over to the police.
Simpson was subsequently charged with breaking and entering and allegedly confessed to the murder of Shirley.
