Leon Bailey has been recalled to the Reggae Boyz squad for their upcoming CONCACAF Nations League match against Cuba on September 6 at the National Stadium in Kingston. This marks Bailey’s return to the national team after a hiatus due to a temporary suspension imposed by the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF). The suspension, which stemmed from disciplinary issues during the last Nations League campaign in November, had kept the Aston Villa winger out of international action since then.
Bailey’s inclusion in the squad is part of a broader shake-up by newly appointed head coach Steve McClaren, who is looking to reinvigorate the team ahead of crucial fixtures. Alongside Bailey, the squad also sees the surprise inclusion of Norman Campbell, a forward who currently plays for Randers FC in Denmark. Campbell’s call-up is seen as a significant boost, given his recent performances in Europe.
McClaren’s squad selection, which also includes regulars like Michail Antonio and Damion Lowe, signals a blend of experience and new talent as Jamaica aims to assert its dominance in the Nations League.
