A 60-year-old construction worker from Above Rocks, St. Catherine, is set to appear before the St. Catherine Parish Court in Linstead on Wednesday, September 11, on charges related to a work visa scam. The accused, Robert Dunn, allegedly defrauded a woman of $320,500 under the pretense of securing a U.S. work visa and passport for her.
According to reports, Dunn collected the money from the victim between July 1 and August 15, assuring her that the documents would be processed promptly. However, after weeks passed without receiving the promised visa or passport—and no sign of a refund—the woman reported the matter to the police.
Following an investigation, Dunn was arrested and charged with fraud on Tuesday, August 27. The authorities are urging the public to be cautious of similar scams, particularly those involving promises of overseas employment opportunities. Dunn remains in custody and will face the court to answer the charges in the coming week.
