Labourer Charged After Admitting to Santa Cruz Business Break-In

A 25-year-old labourer has been charged following a break-in and theft at a business establishment in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, last weekend.

The accused, Jamario Jarrett, otherwise called ‘Oreo’, of Hyman Town in the Brighton district, reportedly admitted to the crime in a caution statement, according to a police release issued Saturday.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on May 17 along Main Street. Police reports indicate that the female business owner had locked up and gone home when she was informed that her premises was being broken into.

The police were alerted and, upon arrival, reportedly saw two men fleeing the scene with items in hand. Investigations revealed that the intruders had forced open a rear window to gain entry.

Jarrett was later named a person of interest and turned himself in on Thursday
