KINGSTON, Jamaica – A 39-year-old vendor from downtown Kingston has been charged in connection with the alleged rape of a woman at gunpoint in January. Police identified the man as Dean Thompson, also known as Dean Anderson, of Fourth Street.
A statement released by the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) on Monday detailed the charges against Thompson. He is facing charges of rape, forcible abduction, aiding and abetting grievous sexual assault, aiding and abetting possession of a prohibited weapon, and assault at common law.
The alleged incident occurred on January 11th at approximately 7 p.m. in the Three Miles area of St. Andrew.
Police reports state that Thompson allegedly abducted the woman and transported her to a residence where they met Troy Lewis. Lewis was previously arrested and charged in connection with the same incident.
According to investigators, Lewis allegedly brandished a firearm and demanded sex from the woman. Both Lewis and Thompson are then alleged to have sexually assaulted her. The woman was released the following morning and promptly reported the incident to the police.
Thompson is scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on February 26th. The investigation is ongoing.
