NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Authorities are investigating what they have described as an act of terror following a fatal shooting in the capital early Saturday morning.
According to police reports, officers were alerted shortly after 7:30 a.m. by ShotSpotter Technology, which detected gunfire in a community in Nassau. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man lying unresponsive on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Quintero Arnett. He had been seated in a vehicle with his four-year-old daughter outside a breakfast establishment when five armed men approached and opened fire. Gunshots tore through the vehicle, narrowly missing the child, before the gunmen fled west on Dunmore Street in a white Juke, a Japanese-model vehicle.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel responded to the scene but confirmed that Arnett had already succumbed to his injuries.
This brazen killing has reignited concerns over violent crime in the country. Despite the presence of advanced surveillance technologies, including ShotSpotter and CCTV cameras, the assailants managed to escape without immediate capture.
