Kingston Man Faces Jail Time for Cocaine Trafficking and Fake Passport Use

St James, Jamaica — Kimauly Hoyles, a 38-year-old resident of Patrick City, Kingston 20, was sentenced today in the St James Parish Court for multiple drug-related offences. His sentencing follows his arrest at Sangster International Airport on September 12, 2024, as he attempted to flee Jamaica using a fake American passport.

Hoyles had been found guilty of various drug offences, including possession, dealing, trafficking, attempting to export cocaine, and conspiracy to export cocaine, as well as possession of criminal property. These charges were linked to the December 10, 2020, seizure of 277.15 kilograms of cocaine at Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, with an estimated street value exceeding J$2 billion.

The court handed down the following sentences:
– Two years at hard labour for possession of cocaine or a J$1.5 million fine.
– A mandatory two years at hard labour and a J$3 million fine, or three years at hard labour.
– One year imprisonment for attempting to export cocaine or a J$30,000 fine.
– Six months hard labour for possession of criminal property or a J$500,000 fine.

Hoyles was admonished and discharged for the charge of dealing in cocaine. All sentences will run consecutively if the fines are not paid.

In addition to these sentences, Hoyles is also awaiting trial on the charge of uttering forged documents related to his use of the fake passport.
