Falmouth, Trelawny — Police Constable Junior Howlett has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Adju Hall during an off-duty altercation in Falmouth last November. Howlett appeared before the Trelawny Parish Court on Friday, where he was granted bail of $900,000 with one to two sureties.
The shooting incident occurred on November 4, 2023, near a nightclub on Harbour Street in Falmouth. It is alleged that an altercation between Howlett and Hall escalated, leading to Howlett discharging his firearm. No weapon was recovered from Hall at the scene.
The charges against Constable Howlett follow a thorough investigation by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) and a ruling by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. He has been ordered to return to court on October 16, and reporting conditions have been imposed as part of his bail.
