Kingston, Jamaica – A family feud turned deadly in Kingston 6, leaving one man dead and another now facing a murder charge.
29-year-old Daniele Powell, of Old Hope Road, has been officially charged with the murder of his own relative, 44-year-old Peter Lyndsay, otherwise called ‘Gregory’, of Standpipe district.
The deadly incident unfolded on Monday, July 15, during what police described as the latest in a long-standing feud between the two men.
Reports from the Half-Way Tree Police are that an argument erupted between Powell and Lyndsay. The dispute quickly escalated when Powell allegedly retrieved a firearm and opened fire, hitting Lyndsay multiple times.
When the gunfire ceased, Lyndsay was seen suffering from serious gunshot wounds. He was rushed to hospital, where doctors later pronounced him dead.
After nearly five weeks on the run, Powell turned himself in on Tuesday, August 19, accompanied by his attorney. A warrant was executed and he was formally charged with murder.
Police say his court date is being finalized as investigations continue.
