Montego Bay, St. James — History in the making! The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) is gearing up to shake things up this weekend with the official launch of its 2025 election manifesto—and for the first time ever, it’s happening outside of Kingston!
Dubbed “I Choose Jamaica: The Next Chapter,” the manifesto will be unveiled on Sunday, August 24 at a mass rally in Sam Sharpe Square, right in the heart of downtown Montego Bay.
Chairman of the JLP’s Manifesto Committee, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, says the decision to host the launch in MoBay reflects the party’s commitment to bring policies directly to the people.
“We’re changing the game—this isn’t business as usual,” said Johnson Smith. “We’re making sure Jamaicans in every corner know they’re part of the vision.”
And that’s not all! The JLP is going digital in a big way, with the revamped party website now featuring an interactive map showcasing achievements in every parish—from health centres to markets, water projects, road works, school upgrades and more.
The map also includes updates on fire stations, infrastructure for vulnerable persons, and a new section giving voters a closer look at the party’s candidates heading into the 2025 general election.
Senator Johnson Smith, who also heads the Achievements Committee, says the move is all about transparency and accountability.
“We want Jamaicans to see, in real-time, the work being done—and what’s next,” she said.
All eyes are now on Sam Sharpe Square this Sunday, as the JLP looks to write “the next chapter” of Jamaica’s political journey—right where the nation’s future meets its fiery past.
