NORTH CAROLINA, USAv (McKoy’s News) — Kamla Forbes Thomas, a Jamaican national and outspoken PNP supporter, was detained in the United States over the weekend in connection with a misdemeanor offence.
Reports out of Gaston County, North Carolina, indicate that Forbes Thomas was taken into custody by the Ranlo Police Department on Saturday, October 5, shortly after 5:00 p.m. She was arrested for failing to appear in court on a larceny charge laid earlier this year in July 2025.
The charge reportedly involves receiving or being in possession of stolen goods. Forbes Thomas was released a few hours later after posting a US $2,500 bond.
On social media, she is popularly known as “Kamla The Ripe Mango” and lists herself as a physiotherapist, social media consultant, and emergency medical technician (EMT).
Forbes Thomas has become a well-known and often controversial figure online, making headlines in 2019 for her claims about dengue fever treatments, and again this year after making viral comments about the death of Melissa Silvera, the late wife of former PNP MP Jolyan Silvera.
Police in North Carolina have confirmed that court proceedings are ongoing.
