KINGSTON, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) — A labourer known by the aliases ‘Dada,’ ‘Breadback,’ and ‘Mikiel Ramsey’ has been formally charged with murder following the shooting death of 25-year-old Kevin Duhaney on Hill Avenue, Kingston 11, on August 5.
The accused has been identified as Dave King, of Grape Road, Kingston 11, and St Ann’s Bay addresses. In addition to murder, King has been slapped with several other charges, including wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon and ammunition, using a firearm to commit a felony, conspiracy to murder, and conspiracy to wound with intent.
According to the Olympic Gardens police, around 12:20 a.m., Duhaney and another man were standing at their gate when a brown Nissan Latio motor car pulled up. It is alleged that King and another man exited the vehicle and opened fire, hitting both men.
The victims reportedly ran inside their yard to escape, but Duhaney collapsed. When the shooting stopped, both men were found suffering from gunshot wounds and rushed to hospital, where Duhaney was pronounced dead and the other man admitted in serious condition.
Investigations later revealed that on September 11, King was shot and injured by gunmen in St Ann and admitted to hospital under the name ‘Mikiel Ramsey.’ He was later identified and charged based on eyewitness accounts.
His court date is currently being finalised as detectives continue their probe.
