The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) has reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism after two soldiers were arrested alongside a police inspector in a major narcotics operation in St Andrew on Thursday night.
The arrests followed a Pine Bar operation in Woodford Park, where investigators seized three vehicles and discovered five packages of cocaine weighing 12.5 pounds inside a blue Toyota Tacoma. A Glock service pistol, ammunition, a police ID, and a smartphone were also recovered. No illegal items were found during a subsequent search of the inspector’s St Catherine residence.
In a statement, the JDF stressed that criminal activity by its members is inconsistent with the force’s standards and that it is cooperating fully with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) to ensure a transparent investigation.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
