Kingston, Jamaica – A St Catherine man who admitted to multiple sexual offences involving his underage daughter and stepdaughter has been sentenced to more than 70 years in prison by the Home Circuit Court.
The 46-year-old taxi operator was sentenced on Tuesday by Justice Bertram Morrison to 33 years and eight months on charges of rape, grievous sexual assault, and having sex with a person under 16.
He also received 15 years for trafficking, 10 years for child pornography, 10 years for incest, and three years for assault occasioning bodily harm.
Although the total adds up to over 70 years, the sentences will run concurrently, meaning he will serve 33 years and eight months behind bars.
The man had pleaded guilty to the charges in the St Catherine Circuit Court on February 14 this year.
According to the court, between January 2022 and December 2023, he repeatedly forced his underage daughters to engage in sexual acts.
A report was made to the police in February 2024, and an investigation was carried out by the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA).
The man was arrested shortly after and later charged.
