ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — A man is in police custody following the fatal stabbing of an exotic dancer early Saturday morning at the Spendless nightclub in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth.
The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Nickesha Francis-Monfret, a resident of Queen’s Way, Yallahs, in St Thomas. Sources confirmed her stage name was ‘Chocolate’.
Preliminary reports indicate that around 2:00 am, Francis-Monfret was involved in an altercation with a man inside the club. During the confrontation, the man reportedly used a knife to stab her. She was rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Speaking with the media, Superintendent Coleridge Minto, head of the St Elizabeth police division, confirmed that detectives swiftly processed the crime scene and, acting on intelligence, tracked down the suspect at a premises in Santa Cruz.
“The quick actions of the police led to the arrest of the suspect. He was picked up, and the knife believed to have been used was also seized,” Minto stated.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
