A 55-year-old Jamaican woman is awaiting sentencing after admitting that she illegally voted in the November 2024 United States general election.
Gaye Tyndale-Simpson, who resided in Bridgewater Township, New Jersey, pleaded guilty to one count of voting as a non-citizen in a federal election.
According to federal prosecutors, Tyndale-Simpson cast a ballot in the election, which included the presidential contest, despite being ineligible to vote because she was not a US citizen.
Federal law prohibits non-citizens from voting in federal elections.
She faces a maximum sentence of six months in prison and a US$100,000 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for February 24, 2027.
