Jamaica Teachers’ Association Pleads for Information on Missing Teacher Danielle Anglin

Missing Teacher Danielle Anglin: The Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) has issued another heartfelt plea for information leading to the safe return of 29-year-old Danielle Anglin, urging anyone with details to contact the police at 119.

Anglin, who teaches at St Peter Claver Primary and Infant School in St Andrew, was last seen around 5:50 a.m. on Monday, May 13, while on her way to work. She has a dark complexion, a slim build, and stands approximately 167 centimeters (5 feet 6 inches) tall.

In reiterating its call for her safe return, the JTA expressed deep concern over the detrimental effects of violence on the education sector.

The JTA appealed to all law-abiding citizens to unite in eradicating violence from communities and the country at large, emphasizing the need to protect children, the elderly, teachers, and all Jamaicans. “Violence of any sort in our society continues to have a debilitating impact on all aspects of our educational landscape, and this is counterproductive,” the JTA stated in a media release.

The JTA emphasized that violence is no longer confined to specific areas but is affecting all Jamaicans, including teachers and students.

“The association also condemns any violence against educators whose daily task is to mold the lives of our children, giving them a good start in life and making them worthwhile and productive citizens of Jamaica, the wider Caribbean, and the world.”

The teachers’ group called for the support of all Jamaicans in the fight against violence, particularly in the current search for Ms. Anglin, “a young and promising educator.”

Denise Anglin, the mother of the missing teacher, shared with The Gleaner on Thursday her hope for her daughter’s safe return. Denise became alarmed when her daughter, who usually calls to notify her when she leaves school, did not call or show up later in the day.

“I couldn’t sleep, I sat up until four o’clock in the morning,” she said.

The following morning, Denise was informed that Danielle, whom she described as a dedicated teacher, did not arrive at work. Her husband and Danielle’s father, Michael Anglin, subsequently filed a missing person report.
