A member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force lost his life in a harrowing confrontation with a gunman in St Ann on Monday.
The deceased officer has been identified as Constable Ricardo Fairclough.
According to reports, the incident unfolded shortly before 9 p.m. at a supermarket in the parish, where Constable Fairclough was present. Eyewitnesses recounted that Constable Fairclough observed a robbery in progress, during which the gunman indiscriminately opened fire, injuring another individual.
Constable Fairclough reportedly rushed to the aid of the injured person. In a bid to thwart the assailant’s rampage, the brave officer engaged in a fierce shootout with the gunman. Tragically, during the exchange of gunfire, Constable Fairclough sustained fatal injuries and succumbed at the scene.
A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the perpetrator responsible for this heinous act. The Jamaica Constabulary Force, along with local authorities, is leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of the gunman.
