St James, Jamaica: The St. James police reported that the 14-year-old Irwin High School student charged with fatally stabbing a 15-year-old peer at the Montego Bay institution was granted bail of $100,000 in the St. James Family Court on Thursday.
Javon Myrie, the teenage boy from Tucker Irwin, appeared with his attorney on Wednesday afternoon to face charges in the murder of Raniel Plummer from Point district in Spring Mount, St. James.
According to reports, a confrontation between the two students occurred at Irwin High School on Wednesday and escalated during Thursday’s lunch period, leading Raniel to report the incident to the school coordinator.
Following school hours, Javon and a group of other male students allegedly assaulted Raniel, who attempted to walk away but was stabbed in the chest region by Javon.
Raniel was rushed to Cornwall Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
Myrie appeared in court, was charged, and subsequently granted bail.
