ST JAMES, Jamaica — St James Central Member of Parliament Heroy Clarke has been nominated for the position of deputy leader of the Jamaica Labour Party’s Area Council 4.
Clarke was the sole nominee at Sunday’s meeting at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Rose Hall, St James, after putting himself forward for the post.
He is expected to succeed JC Hutchinson. However, nominations remain open until October 14, with formal ratification set for the party’s National Conference in November.
Following his nomination, Clarke said he was ready to take on the responsibilities, with particular emphasis on strengthening the JLP’s electoral position in western Jamaica.
He indicated that his work would follow the direction of senior party leaders and said his family’s support would help him meet the demands of the role.
Clarke also identified preparations for the 2028 local government elections as a major priority.
